1. Background

Orange is implementing the [Orphan care and empowerment/106], which aims to expand livelihood opportunities for women and youth in Northwest Syria by providing market-driven technical and vocational training. Graphic design is an increasingly important skill with demand in both local and online markets, offering opportunities for freelance work, remote employment, and small business creation.

As part of this initiative, Orange seeks to recruit a female technical trainer in Graphic Design to deliver structured training sessions that build participants’ creative and digital skills, enabling them to design products and services suitable for local businesses, NGOs, and online platforms.

2. Objective of the Assignment

The overall objective is to equip participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to:

·        Understand design principles and visual communication basics.

·        Use industry-standard graphic design software effectively.

·        Develop designs for print and digital media (flyers, logos, posters, social media content, etc.).

·        Apply branding and marketing concepts in design work.

·        Explore freelancing opportunities and connect with potential markets.

 

3. Scope of Work / Responsibilities

The trainer will:

·        Develop a training plan and curriculum tailored to participants’ backgrounds and local market needs.

·        Deliver 20 training days using participatory and practice-oriented methodologies.

·        Cover key topics such as:

-            Fundamentals of graphic design (typography, color theory, layout, and composition).

-            Introduction to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or alternative open-source software.

-            Designing for social media, NGOs, and small businesses.

-            Branding and logo design.

-            Preparing files for print and digital platforms.

-            Basics of freelancing and client communication.

·        Provide practical exercises, assignments, and design projects.

·        Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to track progress.

·        Guide participants in preparing a portfolio of at least 3–5 design samples by the end of training.

·        Submit a final training report including participant performance and recommendations.

 

4. Expected Deliverables

·        Approved training curriculum and schedule.

·        Delivery of 20 days of training.

·        Training materials, handouts, and software tutorials.

·        Participant portfolios and assessment results.

·        Final report including evaluation outcomes and future recommendations.

 

5. Duration and Location

·        Duration: 20 working days.

·        Location: [Jandairis-Afrin, Northwest Syria].

 

6. Reporting and Supervision

The trainer will report to the Livelihoods Filed Coordinator and coordinate with the MEAL team for monitoring and evaluation.

 

7. Qualifications and Experience

·        Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Multimedia, or related field.

·        At least 2–3 years of professional experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio.

·        Prior experience delivering vocational training or workshops.

·        Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or open-source alternatives.

·        Strong facilitation and communication skills, with ability to train women and youth.

·        Knowledge of local and online freelance markets.

·        Commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and protection principles.
