General Description of the Organization:

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to provide individual and group psychosocial support services within the mobile mental health clinic, including the delivery of awareness-raising and psychoeducation sessions on mental health and psychosocial support issues for individuals experiencing stress and psychological distress, with a particular focus on vulnerable and most-at-risk groups in the areas of intervention.

The Psychosocial Support Worker will contribute to the provision of focused, non-specialized psychosocial interventions and lower-level interventions within the IASC Mental Health and Psychosocial Support intervention pyramid. This will be done through conducting initial and comprehensive assessments of beneficiaries’ needs, participating in the development of appropriate support plans, implementing psychosocial support activities, and providing continuous follow-up for cases according to identified needs.

The role also includes supporting beneficiaries’ access to appropriate services by making and following up on necessary referrals in coordination with members of the mobile clinic team and other service providers, while ensuring respect for beneficiaries’ dignity and privacy, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to the principles of non-discrimination, do no harm, and approved ethical and professional standards.

 


Key Responsibilities:

1.    Coordinate with other service providers within the facility and other organizations to ensure an effective referral pathway and regularly update the service mapping and related information.

2.    Conduct biopsychosocial assessments for beneficiaries and identify priority needs for response.

3.    Provide consultations to beneficiaries in the workplace, whether through the mobile team or the fixed center, in accordance with the guidelines and approved interventions adopted by the MHPSS Working Group in Northwest Syria.

4.    Support beneficiaries in developing a participatory recovery plan, including step-by-step recovery goals, based on their needs, problems, and strengths, and in line with the approved protocols and interventions, in addition to providing continuous follow-up according to their care plans.

5.    Provide the necessary psychoeducation to beneficiaries, caregivers, family members, and the wider community.

6.    Visit beneficiaries in their locations for the purpose of awareness-raising, providing psychosocial support, and delivering Psychological First Aid (PFA).

7.    Participate in linking beneficiaries to appropriate services according to their needs when a higher level of counseling or intervention is required, including the referral system and monitoring completed internal and external referrals. This also includes coordination with mhGAP doctors and other service providers to address beneficiaries’ additional needs.

8.    Ensure the confidentiality of beneficiaries’ information documented in assessment forms and electronic and paper-based clinical records, while ensuring the quality of documentation of beneficiaries’ files and information.

9.    Participate in raising awareness about mental health and psychosocial support issues, including suicide prevention, as well as the rights of people experiencing mental health conditions at the individual and community levels.

10.    Participate in ongoing individual and group technical supervision sessions.

11.    Actively attend training and workshops, and continuously work on developing personal capacities.

12.    Coordinate and work closely with the Team Leader and Technical Supervisor, particularly regarding critical and high-risk cases, especially suicide attempts.

13.    Provide regular weekly and monthly updates and reports to the Team Leader and Technical Supervisor.

14.    Close beneficiaries’ files upon completion of services in accordance with the organization’s approved forms and procedures.


Qualifications & Experience:

·        Mandatory university degree Preferably sociology - psychology

·         Experience in psychosocial support activities and programs - dealing with sensitive and critical cases and respecting the privacy of cases.

·         At least one years experience in same position.

·        Arabic Language is a must.

·        Computer - Technology applications - Effective communication - Ability to work with others within multiple teams
