General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of the conflict-affected population. Since its establishment, Orange has partnered directly with affected Syrian populations, delivering programs spanning sectors, including humanitarian and development programs in the Early Recovery and Livelihoods, Food Security and agriculture, Education and Protection, WASH, and Shelter, in addition to long-term impact interventions focusing on the economic empowerment and the local value chains improvements to enable targeted communities to improve their living practices and their sustainable mechanisms. Orange collaborates with various national and international non-governmental organizations, as well as local initiatives, to adopt a community-based approach that improves the response’s impact on the humanitarian crisis and provides sustainable and alternative solutions.

 

Job Purpose:

The Project Assistant will support the day-to-day implementation of field activities in Project locations, with a focus on facilitating community engagement, supporting field coordination, and ensuring timely and quality delivery of project activities.

The role includes close interaction with communities, local stakeholders, and implementation teams to ensure smooth execution of activities, accurate documentation, and adherence to organizational standards, including accountability, safeguarding, and protection principles.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Field Implementation Support:

·        Support the daily implementation of field activities, including community infrastructure rehabilitation, basic service support, and community-based initiatives.

·        Follow up on work plans with field teams and report progress against planned activities.

·        Identify and report operational challenges affecting implementation in a timely manner.

 

2. Community Engagement and Coordination:

·        Facilitate inclusive community mobilization processes, ensuring participation of women, youth, and vulnerable groups.

·        Support coordination with community representatives, local councils, and relevant service actors under the supervision of the Project Officer/Coordinator.

·        Contribute to maintaining strong community relations and feedback mechanisms.


3. Beneficiary Selection and Field Data Collection:

·        Support beneficiary identification and verification processes based on agreed vulnerability and selection criteria.

·        Assist in conducting field-level data collection, surveys, and rapid assessments when required.

·        Ensure accuracy and completeness of beneficiary records and supporting documentation.


4. Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting:

·        Collect and organize field documentation including attendance sheets, distribution lists, photos, and activity reports.

·        Support monitoring of ongoing activities and provide regular updates on implementation status.

·        Contribute to weekly and monthly narrative reports.


5. Accountability, Protection, and Safeguarding:

·        Ensure adherence to accountability and safeguarding standards during all field activities.

·        Report any protection concerns, risks, or incidents observed in the field through appropriate channels.

·        Support feedback and complaint response mechanisms at community level.


6. Logistics and Operational Support:

·        Support coordination with logistics and procurement teams for field-related needs.

·        Follow up on delivery of materials and services to ensure timely implementation of activities.

 

7. MEAL and Learning Support:

·        Participate in post-distribution monitoring, post-activity reviews, and beneficiary feedback exercises.

·        Support data validation processes in coordination with MEAL teams.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

·        University degree in social sciences, development studies, agriculture, engineering, or a related field.

·        1–2 years of relevant experience in humanitarian or development programming, preferably in Early Recovery, Livelihoods, WASH, or community-based interventions.

·        Experience working with community structures, local councils, or civil society actors in Syria is an asset.

·        Strong understanding of community dynamics in Deir Ezzor and similar contexts in northeast Syria.

·        Good communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

·        Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and work independently in field settings.

·        Proficiency in Arabic is required; basic English is an advantage.

·        Strong commitment to humanitarian principles, safeguarding, and accountability standards.
