General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of the conflict-affected population. Since its establishment, Orange has partnered directly with affected Syrian populations, delivering programs spanning sectors, including humanitarian and development programs in the Early Recovery and Livelihoods, Food Security and agriculture, Education and Protection, WASH, and Shelter, in addition to long-term impact interventions focusing on the economic empowerment and the local value chains improvements to enable targeted communities to improve their living practices and their sustainable mechanisms. Orange collaborates with various national and international non-governmental organizations, as well as local initiatives, to adopt a community-based approach that improves the response’s impact on the humanitarian crisis and provides sustainable and alternative solutions.

 

Job Purpose:

The Business Coach will provide structured coaching, technical guidance, and field-based follow-up to beneficiaries receiving small business grants. The role ensures that supported businesses are properly established, effectively managed, and progressively developed toward sustainability.

The position combines business advisory support, field supervision, and capacity building, ensuring that beneficiaries are able to apply practical business management skills, improve productivity, and strengthen market linkages.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Field Coaching and Beneficiary Follow-up:

·        Conduct regular field visits to supported beneficiaries, ensuring at least one visit per beneficiary per month.

·        Provide on-site coaching and technical support for business implementation.

·        Monitor progress of small enterprises against approved business plans and work plans.

 

2. Business Development Support:

·        Support beneficiaries in setting up and operationalizing their small businesses.

·        Provide practical guidance on business planning, pricing, marketing, and customer relations.

·        Assist beneficiaries in improving production efficiency, quality control, and resource management.

·        Strengthen beneficiaries’ understanding of local market dynamics in Şanlıurfa.

 

3. Training and Capacity Building:

·        Deliver tailored coaching sessions to enhance entrepreneurial and business management skills.

·        Apply participatory and adult-learning approaches during field coaching.

·        Support beneficiaries in developing problem-solving and decision-making capacities.

 

4. Procurement and Operational Support:

·        Support beneficiaries in identifying appropriate raw materials, equipment, and suppliers.

·        Provide guidance on cost efficiency and timing of procurement based on market conditions.

·        Assist in organizing invoices, contracts, and basic financial documentation.

 

5. Monitoring, Risk Management, and Reporting:

·        Identify operational, financial, and market-related risks affecting business performance.

·        Provide timely solutions and escalate critical issues to the line manager.

·        Prepare regular field reports (daily/weekly/monthly) on beneficiary progress and challenges.

·        Ensure proper documentation of all coaching activities and business development support.

 

6. Coordination and Project Support:

·        Coordinate closely with project staff to implement field visit plans.

·        Support implementation of project activities including grant distribution and business training sessions.

·        Participate in training activities organized for beneficiaries when required.

 

7. Safeguarding and Compliance:

·        Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safeguarding principles, and code of conduct.

·        Promote safe, inclusive, and accountable approaches in all field activities.

·        Report any protection or operational concerns immediately through appropriate channels.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

·        Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Development Studies, Green Businesses, or related field.

·        Minimum 2 years of experience in livelihoods programming, business development support, or humanitarian projects.

·        Proven experience in field-based beneficiary follow-up and coaching.

·        Experience working with refugee and/or vulnerable host communities is an asset.

·        Knowledge of small business development and market systems is strongly preferred.

 

Required Skills:

·        Strong communication and interpersonal coaching skills.

·        Ability to provide practical, solution-oriented business guidance.

·        Strong risk management and problem-solving abilities.

·        Good reporting and documentation skills.

·        Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple field tasks.

·        Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and Kobo Toolbox.

 

Languages:

·        Arabic: Required

·        Turkish: Required

·        English: An advantage

 

Additional Notes:

·        The position requires daily field mobility within Şanlıurfa and surrounding areas.

·        Strong understanding of local market systems and refugee livelihoods context is highly desirable.
