General Description of the Organization:
Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of the conflict-affected population. Since its establishment, Orange has partnered directly with affected Syrian populations, delivering programs spanning sectors, including humanitarian and development programs in the Early Recovery and Livelihoods, Food Security and agriculture, Education and Protection, WASH, and Shelter, in addition to long-term impact interventions focusing on the economic empowerment and the local value chains improvements to enable targeted communities to improve their living practices and their sustainable mechanisms. Orange collaborates with various national and international non-governmental organizations, as well as local initiatives, to adopt a community-based approach that improves the response’s impact on the humanitarian crisis and provides sustainable and alternative solutions.
Job Purpose:
The Business Coach will provide technical guidance, mentoring, and field-level supervision to beneficiaries receiving small business grants to ensure effective establishment, implementation, and sustainability of their enterprises.
The role focuses on strengthening beneficiaries’ capacity in business management, production improvement, market linkage, and effective use of project resources through regular field visits, coaching sessions, and continuous follow-up.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Field Coaching and Beneficiary Follow-up:
- Conduct regular field visits to selected beneficiaries, ensuring at least one visit per beneficiary per month.
- Provide on-site technical guidance and continuous follow-up on business implementation.
- Monitor progress of micro and small enterprises against agreed business plans.
2. Technical Coaching and Capacity Building:
- Provide practical coaching on small business management and operational efficiency.
- Support beneficiaries in improving production quality, resource management, and productivity.
- Advise on business planning, pricing, marketing, and customer engagement strategies.
- Apply participatory and motivational approaches to strengthen beneficiaries’ entrepreneurial capacity.
3. Business Planning and Operational Support:
- Support beneficiaries in defining scope, objectives, and implementation plans of their businesses.
- Assist in identifying required raw materials, equipment, and operational inputs.
- Ensure timely initiation of business activities according to approved action plans.
- Support organization of contracts, supplier agreements, and proper invoice documentation.
4. Risk Management and Problem Solving:
- Identify operational and business risks affecting implementation and provide timely solutions.
- Report emerging challenges or emergencies to the line manager without delay.
- Support beneficiaries in adapting to market or production-related constraints.
5. Financial Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track project-related costs to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Prepare regular field reports (daily/weekly/monthly) on beneficiary progress.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all business activities and submissions.
- Provide structured feedback to management on project performance and challenges.
6. Coordination and Project Support:
- Coordinate with project staff to implement field visit plans effectively.
- Support implementation of project activities such as grant distribution and business training sessions.
- Participate in training sessions delivered to beneficiaries when required.
7. Local Context and Economic Empowerment:
- Demonstrate strong understanding of the local economic context in Deir Ezzor.
- Promote inclusive participation of women and vulnerable groups in economic activities.
- Support linkages between beneficiaries and local market opportunities to enhance sustainability.
8. Organizational Compliance
- Adhere to organizational policies and Code of Conduct.
- Follow instructions from the line manager.
- Report any operational, financial, or protection-related concerns promptly.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in humanitarian programming, livelihoods, or business development support.
- Proven experience in field-based work and follow-up with beneficiaries.
- Experience in supporting or supervising small and medium enterprise development is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of project management principles (training or certification is an asset).
Required Skills:

- Ability to prepare clear daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Ability to work under pressure and within a team environment.
- Strong supervisory and field monitoring skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and Kobo Toolbox.
