General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of the conflict-affected population. Since its establishment, Orange has partnered directly with affected Syrian populations, delivering programs spanning sectors, including humanitarian and development programs in the Early Recovery and Livelihoods, Food Security and agriculture, Education and Protection, WASH, and Shelter, in addition to long-term impact interventions focusing on the economic empowerment and the local value chains improvements to enable targeted communities to improve their living practices and their sustainable mechanisms. Orange collaborates with various national and international non-governmental organizations, as well as local initiatives, to adopt a community-based approach that improves the response’s impact on the humanitarian crisis and provides sustainable and alternative solutions.

 

Job Purpose:

The Career Counsellor provides structured, individualized and group-based guidance to beneficiaries to support informed career decision-making and successful labour market integration.

The role focuses on assessing individuals’ skills and interests, providing labour market orientation, supporting career planning, and linking beneficiaries to relevant training, internships, and employment opportunities. The position also contributes to improving employability through soft skills development and job search support.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Beneficiary Assessment and Profiling:

·        Conduct individual assessments to identify skills, interests, competencies, and experience.

·        Use structured interviews, questionnaires, and basic assessment tools where applicable.

·        Identify strengths, skill gaps, and employability barriers.

·        Maintain accurate and updated beneficiary profiles.

 

2. Career Guidance and Planning:

·        Provide individualized career counselling sessions based on assessment results.

·        Support beneficiaries in setting realistic short-term and long-term career goals.

·        Develop personalized career development plans aligned with local labour market opportunities.

·        Ensure beneficiaries understand feasible and context-appropriate career pathways.

 

3. Labour Market Orientation:

·        Provide up-to-date information on local labour market trends and in-demand sectors.

·        Explain required skills, qualifications, and pathways for different occupations.

·        Guide beneficiaries toward realistic employment and training options.

·        Link beneficiaries with vocational training providers and relevant programmes.

 

4. Job Search and Employment Support:

·        Support beneficiaries in preparing CVs and cover letters.

·        Provide interview preparation and coaching sessions.

·        Guide beneficiaries on job application processes and recruitment channels.

·        Support access to internships, apprenticeships, and entry-level job opportunities.

 

5. Soft Skills and Employability Development:

·        Deliver guidance sessions on communication, teamwork, and workplace behaviour.

·        Strengthen beneficiaries’ job readiness and workplace adaptation skills.

·        Build confidence and motivation for labour market engagement.

 

6. Referral and External Linkages:

·        Refer beneficiaries to relevant training programmes, employers, and service providers.

·        Coordinate with vocational training centres, employers, and local employment actors.

·        Establish and maintain relationships with local labour market stakeholders.

·        Follow up on placement outcomes when feasible.

 

7. Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation:

·        Maintain detailed records of counselling sessions and beneficiary progress.

·        Prepare regular reports (weekly/monthly) on activities and outcomes.

·        Contribute to programme monitoring and evaluation processes.

·        Provide feedback on labour market gaps and programme improvements.

 

8. Safeguarding and Ethical Practice:

·        Ensure confidentiality and protection of beneficiary information.

·        Adhere to organizational safeguarding policies and code of conduct.

·        Promote safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory access to services.

·        Report any protection or safeguarding concerns through appropriate channels.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Human Resources, Education, Development Studies, or related field.

·        Minimum 2–3 years of experience in career counselling, livelihoods programming, employment services, or youth development.

·        Experience working with refugees, vulnerable groups, or humanitarian settings is highly desirable.

·        Good understanding of local labour markets and employment pathways in Türkiye or similar contexts.

 

Required Skills:

·        Strong counselling, communication, and interpersonal skills.

·        Ability to assess individual needs and provide structured guidance.

·        Strong knowledge of job search processes and employability tools.

·        Ability to prepare clear reports and maintain accurate records.

·        Strong organizational and coordination skills.

·        Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple beneficiaries.

·        Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and basic data collection tools.

 

Languages:

·        Arabic: Required

·        Turkish: Required

·        English: An advantage

 

Additional Notes:

·        The position requires regular field presence and direct interaction with beneficiaries.

·        Strong understanding of refugee and host community dynamics in Türkiye is essential.
